MEETINGS

The Vaca Valley Volks Club meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Vaca Valley Hospital, 1000 Nut Tree Road, Vacaville. When there is a Monday holiday, the meeting is usually rescheduled to the 2nd Monday.  In February, we have a dinner meeting at a local restaurant in lieu of the regular membership meeting.  Please check our Calendar page for the date of the next meeting.  

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to anyone who likes to walk and wants to promote volkssporting. Dues are $7.00 per year for single, or $14.00 per year for a family membership. Come to a meeting or click here to go to the membership application. Print the application and mail to Bud Simmons, 304 Creekview Court, Vacaville CA 95688, with your check.

VACA VALLEY VOLKS MEETING MINUTES

DATE: July 5, 2010

PLACE: Vaca Valley Hospital, Vacaville, CA

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Howard McGill.

1. ATTENDANCE:
There were 10 voting members present: Phil Braverman Steve Dmytriw, Janis Dmytriw, Roberta Dubois, Johanna Hoagland, Kitty Lockwood, Howard McGill, Bud Simmons, Jill Simmons, and Marge Tye

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The June 7, 2010 Minutes were posted on the VVV Web Site, however not all members had read them. Jill Simmons, Secretary, read the June 7, 2010 minutes. A motion was made by Marge Tye to approve the minutes as read. Phil Braverman seconded the motion. Motion carried

3. TREASURER'S REPORT:
Treasurer Bud Simmons presented the Financial Report for June 2010. The report will be filed for audit.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

A. BENICIA WALK SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 7, 2010
1. The route for the 6 km route is working out well.
2. The Worker's Walk will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 9:30 am.
3. Worker's sign-up sheets were passed around for volunteers.
4. The Check Point will be at the old bridge toll booth. Check Point worker's can drive to the Check Point. There is parking available at that site.

B. RUSH RANCH WALK SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 23 & 24, 2010
1. Bud and Jill Simmons went to Rush Ranch and walked the three trails. The combined distance will add up to 11 km. All trails are hard packed dirt, and should be okay even if there is rain.
2. The members discussed renting the picnic area. There is a covered area with several tables. It was decided that it was a good idea. Roberta Dubois made a motion to rent the picnic area at Rush Ranch for $50.00 each day. Phil Bravrman seconded the motion. Motion carried.

5. NEW BUSINESS:

The location of our 2011 walks was settled.
Our February 5 & 6 walk will be at the Mare Island Flyway Festival. Howard McGill is Trail Master.V April 16 & 17 walk will be at Lynch Canyon Bud and Jill Simmons are Trail Masters.V August 20 &21 will be at Hercules. Tom Bressen is Trail Master. He is also looking into setting up a Year-Round walk in Pinole
October 15 & 16 walk be at Rio Vista.
These walks will be submitted to CVA as our 2011 Scheduled Walks. If problems develop, we can change locations later.

6. ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR:

A. Bud Simmons brought up the fact that the Club had not made a donation to the North Bay Medical Foundation in the fiscal year 2009/2010. Discussion followed. Bud Simmons made a motion to donate $200.00 to the North Bay Medical Foundation. Marge Tye seconded the motion. Motion passed.

B. The YRE in Pinole was not discussed. as Tom Bressem was not at the meeting.

7. CORRESPONDENCE. The Check Point was passed around for the members to read..

8. ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, Marge Tye made a motion to adjourn. Johanna Hoagland seconded the motion. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm The next business meeting will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010.
