Hercules Walk Review
The Hercules Walk on August 20th and 21st was a success consisting of 103 walkers, 82 for credit and 21 free for the weekend.
The weather was cool in the morning opening to wonderful sunshine by midday and the walk provided several vistas of the bay along with historical sites. Those who ate at the Sala Restaurant raved about the food.
A Special "Thanks" goes out to all of our club members who made the Hercules walk a great success. A special note of thanks to Phil Braverman for his help in marking the trail on Friday. Even though we arrived early Saturday to set up, every table in the park was already claimed and guarded; it seemed to be a destination park. Never to fear, our club members rose to the occasion and staked out two premium parking spaces and we set up our table there without any complaints. Of course on Sunday when I made sure we had our own tables and chairs there were plenty of picnic tables open.
Thanks again to all for your initiative and support.

Upcoming VVV Events

Vaca Valley Lynch Canyon Walk Lynch Canyon will take place on October 15th and 16th now that the Solano County Land Trust has approved our request to hold a walk. Bud and Jill have spent countless hours negotiating with the Solano County Land Trust to make this happen and we are looking forward to a great turn out for this event. This will be a Bay Area Ridge Trail Walk with a Lynch Canyon Bar patch award and "B"award Bay Area Ridge Trail patch. If you can help out please let Howard know as soon as possible.

Walk California Day: October 22nd
At our next club meeting on October 3rd we will be finalizing our plans for the October 22nd "Walk California" day. We will be participating with other California clubs by walking one of our regular year round events and introducing potential walkers to our programs. So mark your calendar, and invite some friends to join you at this event.

Vaca Valley Volks 2012 Year Round Events
We will have 10 year round events in 2012. Marion Woodbury routed a new 5/10K in Benicia and we have re-routed our "Joe & Jo" Memorial walk into Lagoon Valley which should hopefully have more participation than we have had on the Vacaville South route. Thanks to Jane and Craig Wirth for taking over the Walnut Creek walk and to Marion Woodbury for handling the two Benicia walks. Bud and Jill will continue to cover the two Marin boxes as well as the three Vacaville and two Alameda YRE's.
